the jerm msr206 utility

The jerm msr206 utility is a suite of tools that allow the user to configure, initialize, and manage the jerm MSR206 card. The jerm MSR206 card is used in conjunction with the JERM board to enable diagnostics on JEDEC standard serial BRAMs (Binary Redundant Array Memories). The suite includes an interface for programming and reading BRAMs, an ASCII terminal emulator for viewing diagnostic messages during initialization or program execution, and a screen scraper utility. This article walks you through how to set up your computer with the utilities necessary for using this nifty little piece of equipment.1) Download GEMlib from http://fsl-gemlib. sourceforge.net 2) Download jerm3 includes from http://www.msr-tools.com/downloads/view/jerm3-0.6a.tar.gz 3) Open a terminal by going to Applications > Accessories > Terminal if possible, or just use the command line application under your OS of choice (macOS, linux, etc.) Examples of tools available in the distribution: 1) Download GEMlib from http://fsl-gemlib.sourceforge.net (some type of USB driver for your OS required) 2) Download jerm3 includes from http://www.msr-tools. com/downloads/view/jerm3-0.6a.tar.gz 3) Extract the contents of the GEMlib tarball to a directory of your choice. 4) Connect your JERM board via USB to your computer, with the JERM board powered on (not yet initialized). 5) Type "gem set up all" or press enter on your keyboard, this will erase all programming data from your BRAMs, and then proceed to initialize them using GEMlib. 6) Download the jerm msr206 utility suite from http://www.msr-tools.com/downloads/view/jerm3-0.6a.tar.gz 7) Extract the contents of the jerm3 tarball to a directory of your choice (must end with 'msr206' i.e.: /home/me/jermmsr206). 8) Execute "gem info" in a terminal window connected to your JERM board, this will display information on connected hardware and loaded modules 9) Execute "gem info NUMBER_OF_FAN_PINS". This will display the current pin state of the JERM board's fan headers, this will be displayed as a number, if possible you can use this to determine which cooling pins are enabled. The jerm MSR206 utility suite will require you to make changes to your BRAM configuration via the JERM board's serial connection before initializing your device. When power is applied to your computer it should initialize quickly, however consult with our technical support team for assistance once the firmware has initialized. The JERM board powers on and off automatically during initialization and power-saving modes (see below). eccc085e13
